Creating a Welcoming Home Thursday

The Valentine's Edition!

Creating a Welcoming Home is really about acts of love for others. Creating an environment that says that you care for those who enter your door. What better time of year to have some extra-special fun with this than around Valentine's Day?!!

Welcome your sweetie(s) home with a great big hug and kiss! Tell them that you missed them and are glad to see them!

Leave a "love note" for your hubby or kids to find on their pillow! Draw an "I heart U" on the steamy bathroom mirror. Pack lunches with a note on their napkin!

Set the table with touches of white, red, and pink. Use what you have, and add a few extra special touches for fun! You can sprinkle candy hearts like confetti on the table, tuck a pretty flower into everyone's napkin, light some tealight candles, or serve heart shaped food!

Cut sandwiches, toast, or pancakes into heart shapes with a cookie cutter. This could also work with cheese slices on crackers, and biscuits. Think creatively here! Top dessert with red sprinkles, or place some candy hearts on top of a scoop of ice cream -- Yum! Or how about chocolate dipped strawberries? They're simple, and always a special treat!!

Make your bedroom a cozy, romantic spot! Clean up the clutter and light a softly scented candle, or spray a squirt of your perfume over the sheets. Place a special framed photo on the bedside table. Fold back the covers and place a love note or gift on the bed! Play some soft music, and have a tray with a lovely snack set for 2!!

Do a chore for your kids or spouse, just because...

Invite another couple or 2 over for a special dinner! Ask everyone to dress in "Sunday best", and prepare a simple yet delicious meal!! Share stories about how you met or were proposed to! Tell your friends how much you LOVE their friendship! If you're not married, invite a few close friends over and do the same thing! Share wonderful stories about how you met each other, and how important and dear you are to each other! Praise God for dear friends!!

Put a bouquet of fresh flowers on your kitchen table! So cheery!!

Tell everyone in your family "I love you" at LEAST once a day, and keep this up for forever!

Have some fun creating LOVE-ly memories for your family this year!! :)

What is your favorite way to say a Valentine's I LOVE YOU?? Any special things you've done or will do this year?

Blessings,

Stacey

You are my sister separated at birth. You know I love these special ideas. I just added a downloadable Vday tradition ideas thing today on my blog...some of those go perfect with this, and we can just print it out on cardstock. :)

Sweet ideas!

I have been married 31 years. So, I would add doing something that the husband usually does (walking the dog, getting in the morning paper, making coffee). Back rubs are always good, too!

I love celebrating V-day. I usually do a nice dinner with candle light but I'll be gone that night so I am preparing a fun breakfast and will have a fun gift on their plates. That is what my plans are.

Those are great ideas! We are going to have a candle light dinner with the boys, so they know that it's a special day. Complete with apple juice in the wine glasses!

something my hubby's mom always did was dray "I <3 U" with a knife in a new jar of peanut butter...so now i do the that whenever i buy new PB. it just takes a second and always makes him smile when he opens it later on...not just for valentines, but could be used then, too!

We take the kids to Chuck E. Cheese's on Valentine's, it's always empty & so much fun! Sometimes, we stay home & the kids and I fix a "fancy" dinner. My hubby always makes it special by putting away the leftovers himself! So sweet.

Great ideas! Some I have used before and not just at Valentines. This year my son is out of the house and my daughter has a bf that is taking her 'out'. So I am treating myself and going to an antique market to have a day doing something I LOVE! Hope you and yours feel all the LOVE!
