Mini Makeover on My Upstairs Landing

Many moons ago I showed you my "Before" pic for my upstairs landing by our bedrooms:

Everyone had some amazing ideas for what I could do there! I loved reading all of the ideas, and eventually combined some of them with my own ideas and.....voila!

Here is my Mini Makeover "After", or should I say "During":

I added some family heirloom pieces from our grandparents to the glass front antique cabinet.

On top are some family photos, a battery operated candle on a cream pedestal (doubles as a nightlight), and a vintage silverplate pitcher that's all tarnished for some interest with some real-looking but fake seasonal branches.

I've been changing out the branches with each season, and love how they come up and "tie together" the cabinet with the champagney-silver colored framed mirror above!

On the staircase wall I hung some framed black & white photos of the girls. I loooove these photos! They make Hubby & I smile each time we pass by!! I may eventually add more photos and objects to this staircase wall for a collage/gallery effect.

I still want to paint up here and also update the lighting. I may be adding some more to the walls too, but I still have to think about what would look best. My house is very open and not very large, so I like to keep a fresh, clean look without much clutter. Hmmm....

I'll definitely keep you posted on the updates!

Hope you liked the "Mini Makeover" on our landing!!! :)

What a wonderful makeover, it doesn't even look like the same space, it's so much brighter! I love the black and white photos, very sweet!

Looks wonderful! I am especially in love with the idea of using the silver pitcher the way you did. Someday I'll inherit a set and they are so "not me", but using them like you did makes sense to me!

You did a great job with the vignette of the glass front cabinet and all the goodies you have on top of it. I really like the round mirror of above. It softens all the straight lines going on. The photo wall is just too sweet and the perfect thing on that wall.

This looks great, Stacey! I like it like this. Of course, collages can be beautiful, but I like a simpler look--maybe because the walls are the ONE place in my house where there's never a pile-up of clutter! :)

Love the branches in the pitcher. Such a nice way to bring in seasonal elements. It's amazing how far the quality of silk flowers has come, isn't it? These look SO real!

It looks so very pretty and like the items really belong. I think adding pieces with meaning to your family is more valuable than anything else. These areas of our homes can be easily overlooked (and left bare) but you made your upper landing look warm and stylish.

Absolutely perfect! LOVE, love, love every little detail. You did an amazing job sprucing up that landing. I need a mirror like that...can you share where you got it? It is stunning.

That area looks just beautiful! My favorite thing is the framed pictures going up the stairs. I may have to do something similar too!

Stacey!! :) This is fabulous. You didn't go out and spend $$$$, but you really really transformed the spot. I love the mirror and the addition of the photos up the stairwell. Fabulous! :) I hope you might link this up to the next "Show Me the Progress" party...whenever that is. ;)
