Favorite Yard-Sale Find

Rhoda over at the lovely blog Southern Hospitality has invited us to take part in a What's your Favorite Yard Sale/Estate Sale/Thrift Store Find EVER party link-up! Check out her blog and see the others who joined in the fun!
My personal favorite finds are these little vintage luncheon/snack plates, I think from the 1950's. I found a couple sets at yard sales one summer several years ago, and they only cost me a few dollars for the whole set! I've since found more at antiques stores and other sales, and currently have 32 plates and cups!

They work great for milk & cookies!

I've used them for LOTS of parties and get-togethers, they are perfect to hold on your lap. I used them for my sister's baby shower last year.

Below I used the plates only (under the fan) for the goodies at my daughter's birthday tea party!

And we used them for Christmas Day brunch for my side of the family, using the punch/tea cups as fruit cups!

They even have their own cabinet in the kitchen! :)

Thanks for visiting!
Blessings,
Stacey

OK...I'm starting to feel inferior. Everyone's thrifty finds are awesome!

I have a cookie party around the December holidays and your luncheon sets would be the BEST!! What a collection you've found. I just love them.

I love your vintage snack sets! I ended up donating some that I had because I never ever used them. It's great that you actually use and enjoy yours.

I love those! My mom had a set of those and they were so fun to eat off of when I was a kid.

I keep seeing them on etsy.com (the vintage section of etsy) and I keep thinking I should get a set, but I really do not have a place to put them and with 3 boys/men in the house, well, their appetites are much larger than anything these cute little plates could ever hold, lol ;)

Thanks for the peek inside of your cupboard!

Nice to meet you :)

Oh Stacey, these pretty dishes went straight into my heart! And your post made me smile.

These dishes remind me of my mother. She has a lot of these and she has always used them on Christmas Eve. From the time I was a wee kid Christmas Eve was special, mom would get all dressed in her fancy gown. And she would throw a fancy party. She has carried on that tradition today and your plates and cups made me smile as they have a very special meaning for me too.

Stacey, those are just too cute for words. I can see why you'd want a collection of those to have for parties. I'd have to have more storage for something like that, but they are perfect.

So glad you joined in my party!

Hi Stacey- Tried to leave a comment on the curtain post but I'm not sure it worked! Wanted to let you know I like #1- it's beautiful, elegant, and unusual. It also looks really neat and crisp.
And your snack sets are cool. I gave a friend in college a ruby 4 piece set for her wedding gift:)

Hello friend..I love your beautiful snack sets....they make everything look so special!

gosh...I'd have to start entertaining if I had dishes that pretty...which would mean cooking...EEEEK Nobody needs to witness that horror. I laughed when I read your comment of loving vintage things with the perfect "chippy" factor. ME TOO. My hubby always laughs that I'll pay extra for anything someone has ruined first.

You are a girl after my own heart! I have been collecting glass luncheon plates for years! My friends have, too. When we host a shower or a luncheon, we pool our sets and wow our guests! It has been a lot of fun to use them over the years! Great post today. dana

I love those luncheon plates with cups! I have a bunch of the rectangular ones like you have on the left side of the photo. I got them from my MIL. The cups break easily. So now I wrap them separately. I love your others as well. Lovely collection.

Isn't it neat to pull them out when you have company? :-) The cigarette/ashtrays are just a hoot! A sign of days gone by....
