You're invited to "join me" for a...This Saturday evening my husband and I will be hosting a Progressive Dinner Party at our home for our church class! I thought you might like to join us (in bloggy spirit at least!) as we prepare, decorate, cook, and host!
Have you ever heard of a Progressive Dinner before? It was a popular form of entertaining in the past few decades, and for good reason! It's really simple and fun!!! Usually what happens is that you hold a 3-4 course meal, with each course being hosted at a different home. This would obviously work best if you lived in the same neighborhood or close together! The party kind of travels along, and each hostess is only responsible for one part of the meal. A Progressive Dinner Party is also really fun because it allows people to get to know each other better as they change seating with each course!
For our party, we are having the Progressive Dinner all at our house!! We will have around 3 tables set up in different rooms, and everyone will be changing seating at each course! But don't worry, I am not "hosting" all of the courses!!
I am only providing the main entree' and sides, and beverages. Other couples were asked to bring either an appetizer or dessert to share!
So far we have 5 couples coming, and maybe 1-2 more will be RSVP-ing later today??
Today I'm going to finish getting my RSVP's and do my party shopping for food and a few little things!
Tomorrow I'll share more detailed party plans!
Do you like the pictures above? The top table decor pic is from Martha Stewart Living, and the bottom 2 from BHG. I love the pretty inspiration! :)
I hope you'll join me again tomorrow!!!

I love progressive dinners, but our are never quite as fancy as this. What a fun evening you will have!!
I love the pictures. I especially love the candle in the pumpkin... I actually believe I could do that! Too cute. Thanks for sharing your planning/prepping! This is fun...

What a great idea. That would work well for our group of friends since we all live a fair distance apart. Hmmm...I might just be using this sometime soon!
Sounds great. I keep thinking we will do that but haven't yet.
Oh sounds so much fun! I've always wanted to host or attend a progressive dinner, but never have. It would be fun to do a different theme in all three rooms.
Great inspirational photos! I love the pumpkin with the flowers in it. Have fun at your progressive dinner!

You are going to be busy!! I can't wait to see how you set it up.
Thanks so much for your sweet comment and adding me to your blog list. That just made my day...

I do love your pictures! So pretty! When I was a youth sponsor, our youth group held a progressive dinner on Halloween. It was incredibly fun to dress up and travel to the different homes. I really like the idea of having it at one home though in different rooms as you are doing. Can't wait to check back tomorrow!
I didn't think anyone did Progressive Dinners anymore! They are so much fun and I think it's really a great idea that you are doing it all at your house. This idea definitely has me thinking:)
Yes, those pictures are beautiful. Glad you mentioned where you found them.
Looking forward to more details for your dinner!
Where did you find the Progressive Dinner button?
Great idea to have it all at your hosue with different set ups! Can't wait to hear more!
Our church used to do progressive dinner parties (long before I was old enough to do anything, though). What a neat idea to have it all at y'all's house instead of having to drive to everyone's home (esp. with gas prices)! I'm inspired!
Sounds like a fabulous idea! I love all the picutres of table decor. Have fun!
That sounds like a lot of fun! It sounds like you are doing a majority of the meal though..I do hope you get some help with the cleanup! Hope it goes smoothly for ya!
That sounds like so much fun! What a great way to spend a fall evening. We participated in a progressive dinner with teens at our church when our oldest was a baby. It was so much fun! It worked out great for us too; we served the appetizer, then were invited to tag along for the rest of the night.
You're going to have so much fun. We did a progressive dinner in my single's group in DC and it was really a blast!
It all sounds so fun! :) I love the first arrangement but the pumpkin is so festive.
Love the idea and the table decorations. I've been wanting to host a dinner for my neighborhood friends. I think a progressive dinner would be fun! Found you on SITS :)
Boo!! See my blog for info!!!
I bet that will be fun. nancy
